While the Detroit Red Wings’ season has disappointed, Zetterberg has excelled. The captain's standout performance at the age of 36 made him the Detroit chapter of the Professional Hockey Writers Association's unanimous nominee for the 2017 Masterton Trophy, which recognizes perseverance and dedication to hockey. Even as his career is in its twilight -- the April 9 regular-season finale is slated to be his 1,000th career game -- Zetterberg leads the way for the Wings.
