The Detroit Red Wings have made it official: Head coach Jeff Blashill will be back behind their bench.
The Red Wings announced the two-year contract Tuesday morning. The extension had been expected since the trade deadline, when general manager Ken Holland said he’d talk with Blashill before the end of the season.
That end is almost here: The Red Wings host the Pittsburgh Penguins tonight in the third to last game of the season. The announcement comes as the Wings have forged their longest winning streak of the season, at five games, and have won seven of their last eight games.
