Todd Nelson likes what he’s seen from forward Dylan Sadowy, an encouraging sign for the Detroit Red Wings.
The Red Wings spent a 2017 third-round pick to acquire Sadowy in May of 2016, after he posted back-to-back 40-goal seasons in the Ontario Hockey League. Sadowy had been drafted in the third round by San Jose in 2014, but there was talk he might re-enter the 2016 draft, so the Wings went for it.
The first-year return disappointed. Sadowy didn’t establish himself as a regular with the Grand Rapids Griffins, and ended up producing just four goals and six points in 38 games.
