Athanasiou's sick goal helps Red Wings stun champion Penguins 6-3

Andreas Athanasiou's stellar game-winner combated a lousy start, which included an early 2-0 deficit, for the Detroit Red Wings tonight at Joe Louis Arena.

The forward scored on a breakaway just 1:46 into the third period of the Red Wings' 6-3 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins.

"I picked up the puck, and I saw some open ice, so I just took the open ice," Athanasiou said. "Coming out of the blue line, I made a move.

"It's always a nice feeling watching the puck go into the net in a game like that against a good team.
