Anthony Mantha's OT goal lifts Red Wings past Canadiens, 2-1

MONTREAL -- The Detroit Red Wings again demonstrated just how good they can be.

They played well start to finish Tuesday at Bell Centre, strengthened by terrific goaltending from Jimmy Howard and solid special teams. The reward was seeing Anthony Mantha score on his hometown Montreal Canadiens in overtime to secure a 2-1 victory. The Wings beat the Atlantic Division leaders a night after losing at home to the Buffalo Sabres.

“I thought the biggest difference in the game by a country mile was just our competitive level was excellent,” coach Jeff Blashill said.
