DETROIT - Special privileges allowed Alec Regula access to the Detroit Red Wings dressing room as a youth. His hockey ability could gain him entry there in the future.
Regula attended Red Wings development camp in late June at Little Caesars Arena still on a high after his favorite team selected him in the third round, 67th overall, in this year's draft.
A 6-4, 203-pound defenseman from the OHL London Knights, Regula's father, CJ, was the Red Wings' long-time dentist. He now works for the Detroit Lions.
Alec Regula excited Red Wings drafted him
"When they called my name, I went over to him and he said, 'It doesn't get any better than this,' " Regula said.
