CHICAGO -- The Detroit Red Wings went big.
With the ninth overall pick today, they selected Michael Rasmussen in the first round of the NHL draft at United Center.
Rasmussen is 6-foot-6, 221 pounds. He’s got great offensive instincts and is a good skater considering his size. He scored 32 goals and 55 points last season with the Tri-City Americans of the WHL. He's considered to be good on the power play
It is the highest the Wings have picked since selecting Martin Lapointe at 10th overall in 1991.
More to come.
