The Detroit Pistons currently sit in the eighth and final spot in the Eastern Conference playoffs. They are a half game behind Brooklyn and Orlando in sixth and seventh, respectively, a game up on Miami and 1.5 games ahead of Charlotte — the team they play later today.
The bottom of the Eastern Conference is a mess of close records and tiebreakers and conference schedules and three-way ties being better for Detroit than four-way ties and all kinds of other things that I won’t pretend to completely understand.
Not because I can’t understand it, mind you, but because I choose to think the Pistons will just start winning games and be solidly in the playoffs.
