Yesterday’s deadline to sign rookie extensions passed without either Jaden Ivey or Jalen Duren receiving one from the Detroit Pistons, meaning Cade Cunningham is the only player on the roster they’ve committed to long term.
Cunningham is the only Pistons player with a guaranteed salary past the 2026-27 season after they couldn’t come to terms with his two teammates.
We’ve talked a lot about the “young core” but there really isn’t such a thing outside of Cade, as the Pistons have made it clear they are not going to reward players with rubber-stamp contracts until they prove they deserve them.
