The Pistons are moving in a new direction.
After weeks of mulling their future, including meetings between team owner Tom Gores and coach Stan Van Gundy, the two sides have parted ways, the team announced Monday.
The move comes on the heels of the Pistons’ disappointing 39-43 season and Gores’ assertion on the last day of the season that he would meet with Van Gundy to plot out a path forward.
That path forward meant a parting of the ways.
“We have decided that this change is necessary to take our basketball organization to the next level,” Gores said in a team statement.
