DETROIT - The Detroit Pistons reached the 20-game mark on Saturday, nearly one-quarter of their schedule complete, playing their best basketball of the season.
They defeated the two-time defending NBA champion Golden State Warriors 111-102 at Little Caesars Arena to extend their winning streak to five. They have won nine of 11.
They're in good shape at 13-7. But ...
They started 14-6 last season. Then they lost seven in a row. Then Reggie Jackson was injured, and their playoff hopes eventually faded.
So, they're maintaining perspective even as optimism grows.
"You can't put too much into it; it's just one win of 82," Stanley Johnson said.
