DETROIT - Detroit Pistons coach Dwane Casey believes the best way of maximizing potential in young players is through trust and positive reinforcement.
He wants to build their confidence, not break them down.
"You have to empower them, you have to trust them," Casey said. "They're going to make mistakes. A lot of fans are going to say, 'Why is he playing?'
"I'll give you an example, (Raptors forward) Pascal Siakam shot 19 percent most of the season, but all at once it clicked. It was because the coaching staff and myself gave him confidence and empowered him and it came through, and that's what this game is about.
