Auburn Hills — It wasn’t a tearful farewell to a classic venue like Sunday’s finale at Joe Louis Arena. It was more like the joy of moving from a college dorm to an off-campus apartment — sad in some ways, but optimistic at what the future holds.
The Pistons closed out their final game at The Palace after 29 years in Auburn Hills on Monday night, before a raucous crowd that included owner Tom Gores and a cast of their many former champions.
From the 1989 and ’90 ‘Bad Boys’ back-to-back champions, there was Isiah Thomas, Dennis Rodman, John Salley, James Edwards and Rick Mahorn.
