DETROIT -- Little Caesars Arena is barely a year old but already is getting a significant facelift -- black seats.
LCA announced Monday that it will install permanent black seats. The process begins in December and will be completed in phases. Fans will not be affected during the change from red seats; the work will be done during non-event times.
During the transition, the seats in the lower bowl will be covered with temporary black seat covers for all arena events.
"We evaluated every aspect of arena operations during the inaugural year, and after numerous discussions with the Pistons and other stakeholders, we have made the decision to install black seats at Little Caesars Arena," Chris Granger, Group President, Sports & Entertainment, Ilitch Holdings, Inc.
