The Los Angeles Lakers took command in the first quarter Sunday and easily dispatched the Detroit Pistons in the quarterfinals of the Las Vegas Summer League with a 101-78 victory at Thomas and Mack Center.
Henry Ellenson led the Pistons (3-3) with 22 points but continued to struggle with his shooting (5-of-16, including 2-of-7 3-pointers). He added four rebounds and five assists.
Rookie guard Bruce Brown scored 11 points, making only 3-of-17 field-goal attempts and missing all six of his 3-point tries. He had six rebounds and four assists and committed four turnovers.
Reggie Hearn, starting in place of the injured Khyri Thomas, contributed 10 points.
