The Detroit Pistons improved their record by 12 wins this season. Stan Van Gundy did a good job coaching his Pistons this season, and he did a good job in the draft selecting Stanley Johnson, who was playing outstanding basketball for a rookie prior to his shoulder injury.
But perhaps the biggest reason for the Pistons’ turnaround were the series of roster moves dating back to the trade deadline last season.
Van Gundy played a role–likely a significant one too–in those roster moves, but he credits Jeff Bower making them happen.
