Griffin scores career-high 50, carries Pistons past 76ers

Detroit — The Pistons had a simple offensive strategy on Tuesday: Give the ball to Blake Griffin and everyone else get out of the way.

Wash. Rinse. Repeat.

Time after time, possession after possession, Griffin got the ball and the Philadelphia 76ers didn’t have anyone who could guard him.

Griffin set a new career high with 50 points, as well as 14 rebounds and six assists, and carried the Pistons the entire way.

It almost wasn’t enough.

His three-point play with 1.8 seconds left gave the Pistons the lead and they held on for a scintillating, 133-132 overtime win over the Philadelphia 76ers before a raucous crowd at Little Caesars Arena.
