Former Detroit Pistons coach George Irvine has died. He was 69.
The Indiana Pacers announced the death Tuesday morning. Irvine coached nearly 200 games for the Pacers in the 1980s before working in the front office.
Irvine compiled a 46-60 record in 1 1/2 seasons coaching the Pistons but was fired by then president of basketball operations Joe Dumars following the 2000-01 season.
