Dwane Casey's Toronto homecoming secondary to Pistons' mission

AUBURN HILLS - The Toronto Raptors were also-rans when Dwane Casey arrived in 2011 and elite when he left in May, seven years later.

He amassed more than twice as many wins as any other Raptors coach, including a franchise-record 59 last season.

Casey returns to Toronto Wednesday as coach of the Detroit Pistons (7 p.m., Fox Sports Detroit), and he didn't try to pretend that this is just another game.

"I'd be lying if I said it didn't (mean something) just because I spent seven years there building a program that has been successful," Casey said.
