ALLEN PARK -- Bob Quinn wanted to keep this under wraps, which is why he didn't reach out for two months to the man he'd eventually make his first-round pick of the 2018 draft. When the Lions general manager called his new center with the news, he knew the reaction would be surprise.
The Lions made Arkansas center Frank Ragnow the 20th pick of the draft Thursday night. In doing so, they made him the first selection of the Matt Patricia tenure. They found a player who fit what they want culturally -- "blue-collar," Patricia calls it. They filled one of the last remaining needs on the offensive side of the ball.
