These draft-week contract extensions are starting to become a thing for the Detroit Lions, with the newest iteration being a four-year, $86 million deal for All-Pro safety Kerby Joseph.
Last year the news broke of the Lions re-signing two other All-Pros, right tackle Penei Sewell and receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, just days before the 2024 NFL Draft in Detroit. Now, just one day before the 2025 NFL Draft in Green Bay, Wisconsin—another of Lions general manager Brad Holmes’ draft picks gets a market-setting deal.
Originally a third-round selection out of the University of Illinois, Joseph is the first player to be re-signed from the 2022 class.
