ALLEN PARK, Mich. -- Miles Killebrew woke up this morning to a flood of text messages that were coming in, asking where his parents were, if his family and friends were OK.
The Detroit Lions safety was born in Las Vegas and grew up in Henderson, Nevada, just outside of the city. And when Killebrew looked at his phone in the morning, he had no idea what was going on. He went online. He started to read.
“And my heart was broken,” Killebrew said. “Immediately that’s when I started reaching out to people back home, and that’s when I got some news of things that were happening and was able to see online what’s going on.
