Game notes: It’s Week 2 in the re-launched USFL and the Michigan Panthers are — just as so many Michigan pro football teams (we won’t name names) over the years have been wont to do — still looking for their first win. Last Sunday, the Panthers — who wear the champagne and plum colors of the 1983 USFL champs but are based in Birmingham, Alabama, this season — couldn’t pull off a fourth-quarter comeback, with a deep bomb ruled incomplete after receiver La'Michael Pettway couldn’t get his feet down in the end zone.
