When Detroit Lions receiver Bradley Marquez was a junior at Texas Tech in 2013, he heard about a freshman walk-on quarterback named Baker Mayfield.
Marquez was spending his summers then as an outfielder in the New York Mets’ minor-league system. When he got to campus for fall camp, all the great things he had heard about Mayfield, who started his career at Texas Tech, were confirmed.
