TWENTYMAN: Lions place Carter on short-term IR, re-sign Cudjo

Cut day in the NFL is a strange and unpredictable time.

Defensive tackle Jermelle Cudjo was one of 22 cuts for the Detroit Lions Saturday afternoon as they trimmed their roster from 75 to the NFL mandated 53.

Less than 24 hours later Cudjo is back with the Lions. He was re-signed Sunday and takes the roster spot of Alex Carter, who the team placed on injured reserve with the designation to return.

Carter, who suffered an ankle injury in practice shortly after arriving to training camp with the Lions’ rookies and selected veterans must stay on that list for eight weeks before he can return.
