Two days into the Detroit Lions' general manager search, it has become increasingly clear that several of the NFL's brightest young executives aren't interested in leaving their current jobs.
Cincinnati Bengals director of player personnel Duke Tobin became the latest potential GM to turn down interviews, declining requests to meet with the Lions and Tennessee Titans on Tuesday, according to ESPN.
The Lions have avoided filing official requests for some candidates they know will decline interviews so as to avoid the appearance of having an unattractive job.
In reality, top candidates shun interviews every year for a variety of reasons from professional to geographical to familial, and the Lions wouldn't be doing their job if they didn't inquire with Tobin, the Baltimore Ravens' Eric DeCosta, the Green Bay Packers' Eliot Wolf, the Minnesota Vikings' George Paton and others who were longshots to leave their current positions.
