T.J. Lang said he was open to taking a pay cut to stay in Detroit, but the Lions had other plans and now the veteran guard is contemplating retirement.

The Lions released Lang on Friday in a move that frees up almost $9 million in cap space. A person involved with the move said Lang and the Lions did not discuss staying at a lesser salary, though Lang said he was open to that option after the season.
