Current Lions and former Lions – head coach Jim Schwartz, anyway – have been in the news at the start of this week, and it all adds up to: There never really is an offseason in the NFL when it comes to news and speculation.
In terms of what is happening on the field, the Lions began the Organized Team Activities phase of the offseason workout program on Tuesday, and a familiar face was present. Safety James Ihedigbo showed up for the first time.
Head coach Jim Caldwell and his staff will get a better look at some position battles in the three weeks of OTAs, followed by the mandatory minicamp that closes out the offseason workouts.
