The Detroit Lions got lucky — first in losing, then in not getting Kerryon Johnson hurt

Free Press reporter Carlos Monarrez answers three questions about the Detroit Lions' 27-17 loss Sunday to the Denver Broncos.

Without a lot to play for, what did you think of the Lions’ performance in Denver?

Got to hand it to the Lions. It didn’t look good. With their backs against the wall, the odds were against them but they somehow pulled through. The Lions led, 17-13, early in the fourth quarter and were in severe danger of beating the Broncos — and tumbling down the draft order. But the Lions did the right thing and gave up two fourth-quarter touchdowns to Denver and then were finally helped by the officials’ call of an incomplete pass to Kenny Golladay that was clearly a catch.
