Reports: Matthew Stafford's starting streak to end because of fractured bone in back

Chicago — After more than eight years, Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford will miss a football game.

According to multiple reports, the back injury he suffered last week against the Oakland Raiders is more serious than originally believed and will sideline him on Sunday in Chicago, where the Lions are scheduled to take on the the Bears.

ESPN is reporting Stafford has multiple fractures in his back.

Stafford's wife, Kelly, hopped on Instagram, thanking the team's doctors and welcoming the opportunity for her husband to properly heal.
