Matt Patricia moved one step closer to finalizing his coaching staff when he hired Tony Carter on Tuesday as a defensive assistant, according to ESPN.
Carter is the second ex-New England Patriots player to join the Detroit Lions staff this offseason. Last week, Patricia hired former Patriots linebacker Tyrone McKenzie as his linebackers coach.
