Pettigrew on ACL recovery: 'I'm ahead of the game'

The first time Brandon Pettigrew tore his ACL as a professional was his rookie season during the Lions’ Thanksgiving Day game in 2009.

After surgery and rehab, he was back for the start of the following season. He caught 71 passes for 722 yards with four touchdowns in 16 games.

Catching that many passes isn’t Pettigrew's role in this offense now, but the point is he was ready to play just nine months after a major knee injury, and played at a very high level.

He’s hoping history repeats itself seven years later.
