I get it. The Detroit Lions looked pretty bad in the preseason. We all just watched the Minnesota Vikings make every Jimmy Garoppolo fanboy cry, Aaron Rodgers work his devil magic against a Bears team that looked improved (or at least for one half), and the Lions are playing past your bedtime if you’re younger than 13 or older than 30.
For all those reasons, Monday night’s preseason opener probably doesn’t have enough excitement surrounding it. This is Week 1 of the regular season, y’all. This is the one time of year in which we have absolutely every right to be excited, because the bad team didn’t hurt us yet.
