Starting defensive end Jason Jones missed this week’s mandatory minicamp, and now we know why.
Jones has been dealing with an undisclosed injury that has been “taken care of,” according to head coach Jim Caldwell, but Caldwell wouldn’t characterize that as surgery.
“He’s been out the last couple days but he should be back with us in the fall,” Caldwell said. “He had a little bit of an injury that he got taken care of.”
Jones started all 17 games (including the playoffs) for the Lions last year and had 22 tackles, five sacks and defended three passes as a versatile performer and edge setter for Teryl Austin’s defense.
