ALLEN PARK, Mich. -- New Detroit Lions team president Rod Wood met with the media for the first time Friday and explained a lot of things, including what his role will be, what he’d like in a new general manager and that the only team he’s qualified to run is the Detroit Lions.

1. He won’t get involved unless it’s a massive monetary decision: Don’t expect Wood to be involved with the day-to-day football operations of the Lions.
