Miles Killebrew shows progress in bid to make Lions roster at linebacker

ALLEN PARK -- Miles Killebrew made the move from safety to linebacker three weeks ago to improve his chances of making the Lions roster. Now perhaps nobody stands to benefit more from the Steve Longa injury than him.

Longa played only 14 snaps at linebacker last year, so it's not like his season-ending ACL injury will deal a critical blow to the Lions defense. But it does undercut their depth at the position, and takes a big bite out of the special teams.

That's where Killebrew comes in. Like Longa, Killebrew was a special teams staple last year.
