Mike Pereira: Blown calls against Lions just coincidence

HOUSTON -- Seattle's Paul Richardson made one of the most spectacular touchdown catches you'll ever see in the playoff win against Detroit this season, snagging the ball with one hand despite being interfered with by Tavon Wilson.

Only problem: Richardson clearly interfered with Wilson too, using his other hand to reach around the safety's head and yank his face mask.

Except, the officials didn't call that interference. They only called the one against Wilson -- who's head was being rotated backward by Richardson -- and the touchdown stood. And Detroit lost in the playoffs. Again.

It was the latest in a series of blown calls in big games that went against the Lions, but Mike Pereira, the league's former head of officiating, insists it's nothing more than coincidence.
