Martha Ford steps down as Lions principal owner, chairman; daughter takes reins

The Detroit Lions announced Tuesday that Sheila Ford Hamp will be taking over the team, replacing her mother, Martha Ford, as the principal owner and chairman.

Martha Ford, 93, has led the Lions since 2014 when her husband, William Clay Ford died. The Lions spent a half-century under the leadership of William Clay Ford, who was the last surviving grandchild of automotive pioneer Henry Ford.
