Live tracker: DeShawn Shead is Lions' most surprising cut, Zach Zenner to IR

ALLEN PARK -- DeShawn Shead signed a $3.35 million deal with Detroit this offseason. He opened training camp as the starting cornerback opposite Darius Slay. Now he won't even make it into Week 1.

The Lions have cut Shead in their move to 53 players on Saturday, according to NFL Network.

Detroit also has parted with running back Dwayne Washington, safety Rolan Milligan, offensive lineman Wesley Johnson, cornerback Chris Jones and receivers Chris Lacy and Mike Ford, according to the Detroit Free Press. Jace Billingsley is out at receiver, according to Pro Football Weekly, and Jake Rudock is out at quarterback per NFL Network.
