Lions vs. Redskins Week 12 Scouting Report: DC in the cellar

A trying stretch has flattened a once-promising start to the Detroit Lions’ season. Their opponent on Sunday has been flat all season and may offer them the best chance to notch a win in weeks.

The Lions travel to Maryland this Sunday to face the 1-9 Washington Redskins, with both teams desperate for a win and experiencing disappointment in a number of positional groups. The Redskins are led by interim head coach Bill Callahan, who replaced the fired Jay Gruden after the team’s 0-5 start.

The Lions have stayed in both games since losing starting quarterback Matthew Stafford to a back injury, but their defense, as it has most of the season, has been unable to get off the field at key times prevent big plays, and hold leads.
