Lions switch radio stations, deny claims of censorship

ALLEN PARK, Mich. -- The Detroit Lions announced a change to their flagship radio station Friday morning.

The reasons why they've made the change, though, are not clear.

The Lions are moving from 97.1 FM to 760 AM. After the news broke Friday, on-air talent from 97.1 said part of the reason the Lions were moving was due to attempted censorship by the Lions of what was said on-air. Included in the negotiations, according to Mort Meisner, the agent for 97.1 afternoon drive-time host Mike Valenti, was that the radio station fire Valenti.
