Lions sign free agent QB Matt Cassel

Allen Park, Mich. – The Detroit Lions announced today that they have signed free agent QB Matt Cassel. Contract terms were not disclosed.

Cassel comes to Detroit after spending the previous two seasons (2016-17) with the Tennessee Titans. He appeared in two games last season and finished with 25 completions on 42 attempts for 162 yards and one touchdown.

A seventh-round draft selection (230th overall) by the New England Patriots in the 2005 NFL Draft out of Southern California, Cassel’s previous NFL stops include New England (2005-08), Kansas City (2009-12), Minnesota (2013-14), Buffalo (2015), Dallas (2015) and Tennessee (2016-17).
