Duron Harmon faced backlash three years ago when he took a knee during the playing of the national anthem to fight racial injustice and support the right to protest in light of incendiary comments made by president Donald Trump.

Harmon said he and other NFL players feel there will be "some type of need for a silent protest" again this fall, though he's not exactly sure what form that will take.

"But what I do know is we’re at the time where that stuff really doesn’t even matter yet," the Lions safety said in a video conference with reporters Friday.
