Lions re-sign LB Tahir Whitehead

In the past two seasons Tahir Whitehead went from being a special teams player to one of the more consistent players on the Detroit Lions defense.

And after a dalliance with other teams at the start of free agency, Whitehead decided to return to the Lions on Wednesday, signing a contract that the NFL Network is reporting is worth $8 million for two years. Further details were not immediately available.

Whitehead should battle with Josh Bynes for the starting middle linebacker spot that will be vacated by Stephen Tulloch.
