Lions QB Matthew Stafford wins award for playing through injuries

ALLEN PARK -- Matthew Stafford was beat up so badly in Minnesota last year, he had to head for the X-ray room after the game.

He was beat up a lot last year. The Lions knew it. They talked about it a lot heading into the rematch against the Vikings at Ford Field.

And then it happened again. Stafford took 13 hits in that game, and he headed back for the X-ray room.

It was that kind of season for Stafford.

Yet, he played in all 16 games. He even led Detroit to a 6-2 finish.
