Lions' Jarrad Davis is ready to build chemistry with Tahir Whitehead

DETROIT -- Before Jarrad Davis could start his five-week break before his first Detroit Lions training camp, he had one more group of people waiting on him to talk to them.

These were school-aged kids, darting around a football field Thursday at Renaissance High School in Detroit. More than a dozen Lions rookies were split into position groups to lead kids through drills, and it's unlikely any of them were talking more than the first-round pick.

It's a characteristic that drew the Lions to Davis in the first place at his pro day down in Florida. They were wowed most by his 6-foot-1-inch, 238-pound body and the way it could jump broadly and vertically better than any other linebacker in the draft class.
