ALLEN PARK, Mich. -- When the Detroit Lions announced their team president last week, they also said they would be hiring a consultant to help them with the search process for a general manager.
On Wednesday, the Lions did, hiring former New York Giants, Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Colts general manager Ernie Accorsi to assist with their search.
“We wanted somebody who had been a GM and somebody who knows what it takes to build a successful organization and can certainly be helpful in identifying candidates for us,” Lions team president Rod Wood said.
