The Detroit Lions open their offseason program Monday and included in that means a bunch of players are eligible to start earning a little bit more money thanks to bonuses in their contracts.
Based off ESPN data, the Lions can start paying out at least $1.395 million in workout bonuses this week, including $275,000 to defensive tackle Khyri Thornton, who re-signed with Detroit for two years this year.
Bonuses and incentives have been staples of mid-level contracts under general manager Bob Quinn, but workout bonuses have not been attached to many of the bigger free agency deals Quinn has done during his first year-plus on the job.
