Lions awarded two compensatory NFL draft picks

When Ndamukong Suh signed the richest contract for a defensive player in NFL history last year, the Detroit Lions knew they'd be getting a third-round compensatory draft pick in return.

The NFL confirmed as much today, awarding that pick and 32 other compensatory selections in this year's draft to 13 teams.

Along with the third-round pick, No. 95 overall, the Lions received a sixth-round choice (No. 210) for losing Nick Fairley in free agency.

The Lions now have 10 picks in this year's draft, including the No. 16 overall selection and three sixth-rounders.

They traded their original third-round pick for the right draft Gabe Wright last year, gained a fifth-rounder from the Denver Broncos in a draft-day trade down in the first round, and acquired another sixth-rounder from the Seattle Seahawks for cornerback Mo Seisay.
