Lions add Texans assistant GM to scouting department

ALLEN PARK -- The Detroit Lions have tweaked their scouting department again, this time adding Jimmy Raye III as a senior personnel executive according to NFL Network.

Raye is a longtime NFL executive who most recently served as assistant general manager of the Houston Texans. He's also had stints with the Chargers (1996-12) and Colts (2013-16).

He interviewed for multiple general manager openings the last couple years, and was considered one of the leaders in Indianapolis before they hired Chris Ballard.

Raye also has a local connection. His father, Jimmy Raye II, was a backup quarterback for the Michigan State team that won the national championship in 1966.
